Long-Acting Reversible Contraceptives
Date: 07/14/23
Dear Providers and Staff:
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in Arizona, 81.3% of women aged 18 to 49 years are at risk for unintended pregnancy, and 59.8% of women have ongoing or potential need for contraceptive services.
Arizona Complete Health-Complete Care Plan and Care1st Health Plan Arizona (Care1st) support and encourage you to have contraceptive counseling conversations with your patients. Here are three reasons to specifically discuss Long-Acting Reversible Contraceptives (LARCs) with your patients:
- Highly effective and low maintenance
- Increased AHCCCS rates for physician-administered drugs including LARCs effective January 1, 2023
- No prior authorization required
The attached flyer discusses LARC benefits and types.
