Upcoming Changes to Submission of Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED) Identification Requests

This communication is to inform you of an upcoming change to the SED identification and removal process. While current submission procedures using the SED Identification & Removal Request Form are in effect as a temporary solution, AHCCCS is preparing to transition to use of the DUGless portal as the permanent process.

New Submission Process via DUGless Portal

Beginning  in  late  July  2025,  you  will  have  the  option  to  use  the  DUGless  portal  to  submit  SED  identification information and requests for removal. AHCCCS will issue a follow-up communication confirming the exact go-live date.  

Effective October 1, 2025, use of the DUGless portal is mandatory. We strongly encourage you to begin using the DUGless portal as soon as it becomes available to allow time for a smooth transition ahead of the October 1 deadline.

To Submit an SED Identification Request via the DUGless Portal:

  • Search for the member under the Supplemental Data section of the portal
  • Indicate  if you’re submitting an SED identification (Yes) or removal (No) request
  • Enter the following member information:
    • AHCCCS ID
    • First and Last Name
    • Date of Birth
    • Effective Date of SED Identification
    • CALOCUS Level of Care Score 1 - 6 (use 99 for members under age 6 or FFS members if CALOCUS is not available)
    • SED Qualifying Diagnosis

Enrollment Requirement

The member must have active enrollment with an ACC, ACC-RBHA, TRBHA, or Fee-for-Service (FFS) plan in order to submit the request through DUGless. The system will not allow submissions for members with no active enrollment.

Training and Support

  • The DUGless portal training manual will be updated to reflect these changes 
  • An updated FAQ document will also be posted to the AHCCCS System of Care website
