Trauma-informed care (TIC) is a service delivery approach focused on an understanding of and responsiveness to the impact of trauma. We as direct care workers, administrative staff and providers need to recognize that many, many people have a history of physical, sexual, and/or emotional abuse, as well as serious illnesses and negative experiences in the health care setting, and we need to learn to respond with empathy and understanding. Join us for this 60-minute training course where we will:
- Understand trauma and the impact on public health.
- Learn the Six Core Principles of trauma-informed care.
- Recognize how to apply trauma-informed care to systems of care.
- Strategize self-care when working with traumatized populations.
