Medicaid NuvaRing & Other Vaginal Ring Formulary Updates – Effective Immediately

Arizona Complete Health-Complete Care Plan (AzCH-CCP) has been notified that Organon has licensed the NuvaRing to Advanz Pharma and Advanz Pharma has not signed the Medicaid Drug Rebate Program (MDRP) agreement. As a result, the brand NuvaRing is no longer covered by any Medicaid program. The new preferred vaginal ring is manufactured by Prasco. Member using NuvaRing and other non-preferred vaginal rings need to be transitioned to Prasco, the preferred ring. Please review the following products for preferred and non-preferred status:

We encourage all prescribing clinicians to review our Preferred Drug Lists for preferred formulary alternatives prior to prescribing. To review the AzCH-CCP Preferred Drug Lists including recent updates, visit our website at:   www.azcompletehealth.com > For Providers > Pharmacy > Preferred Drug Lists.

*AHCCCS determines whether to permit continued use of a non-formulary medication. If continued use is not permitted, members will need to switch to the preferred formulary alternative and a new prescription may be required. (See AHCCCS Policy 310-V)

For AzCH-CCP questions: Contact the pharmacy team (888) 788-4408 (Options 3, 7).
