Home Matters to Arizona

Across Arizona, there is a shortage of affordable rental homes for low income households. It will take ongoing, creative and collective efforts to address affordable housing options for all Arizonans.

Home Matters to Arizona and the Home Matters Arizona Fund is funding affordable housing projects statewide.  The fund prioritizes projects located near healthy food retailers, employment centers, public transit, schools, childcare, senior centers, medical facilities, public libraries, parks, community centers and places of worship. The Home Matters Arizona Fund aims to invest in projects that serve individuals and families with low-to-moderate income, veterans, seniors, people who are experiencing homelessness, people with disabilities, individuals involved in the justice system and those eligible for Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) support.

The Home Matters Arizona Fund looks to address affordable housing needs at scale, adding critical housing units while encouraging housing developers to create a supportive ecosystems for people and families where they live, learn, shop and work.

Grants: Most grant awards will be for between $100,000 and $500,000.   

Loans: A loan pool of up to $35 million is available at an interest rate of 3-4% for a term of up to 7 years.

Fund criteria include:

  • Intentional, collaborative, multi-faceted and multi-sectored, aimed at addressing complex challenges to improve lives and strengthen communities.
  • Fits within the targeted geographic area involved in the comprehensive effort.
  • Specific plans for guiding, monitoring and assessing the comprehensive community effort.
  • Multifaceted dimensions achieving broader impact including partnerships, specifically related to the Home Matters’ values and social determinants of health.
  • Demonstration of how residents in the target area are engaged in informing or leading the project’s comprehensive community plan.
