Pima County Community Health Assessment

Date: 09/16/21

Sending on behalf of the Pima County Health Department, this information should be shared with Pima County providers.

Healthy Pima is partnering with the Arizona Prevention Research Center at the University of Arizona to complete the 2021 Community Health Needs Assessment. We would appreciate your help spreading the word about some upcoming focus groups to help us recruit participants that represent the diversity of Pima County.

We are seeking focus group participants from a variety of communities in Pima County. The information from the focus groups will inform the 2021 Community Health Needs Assessment, and community engagement is essential to ensure that we capture community voices and priorities in the final report.  We want your feedback and input on the most important issues facing Pima County and how to address them.

We will conduct focus group discussions that include a variety of individuals that have unique perspectives and identities within the communities in Pima County. The purpose of focus groups is to obtain information on “norms” of participants regarding knowledge, assets, beliefs, and practices. The information from these interviews will be used to identify important areas for further examination. These discussions should last no longer than an hour and a half (~90 minutes). Question topics include about services and resources, accessibility, assets, resilience, and barriers to health and wellness.

Each focus group will consist of 6-10 people representing a community, and each participant will receive a $30 gift card for their participation.  Please share widely! We can also share flyers, information in Spanish and other recruitment materials as needed. Please reach out to Katy Tucker at kmtucker@arizona.edu for more information.

More information about the Community Health Needs Assessment?

Every three years, Pima County conducts a CHNA to evaluate current community assets and needs. These CHNAs inform public health practice and policy and allow us to understand the health priorities in Pima County. This 2021 report will be especially important given the current COVID-19 pandemic, and we hope to capture a holistic view of health in Pima County.
